I enjoy shopping from The Revente - but as a seller, I am very disappointed. I have been waiting 6 months for a pay out. I have requested it countless times, but I never get any response. I was emailing an employee about a purchase, and mentioned that I never received my payout. She said she was forward the request to accounting. A month later, I sent a follow up email to her, in which she told me that its not her department, I would have to contact accounting myself. I'll mention that my payout isn't a big amount, and the items that were sold were sold at a price I wasn't necessarily happy with to begin with. So I'm not sure what the delay is.

I have been searching for answers online since my emails have gone unanswered, and have been waiting on a payout that I initially requested October 19, 2023. I've been told it was slow due to the website hack (which was back up and running even before I brought my items in to consign), and online it says it can take 7 weeks. (It has currently been 17). I've never had this experience anywhere else I've consigned. I have given grace knowing the challenges of small business, but this is so frustrating to be brushed off and not responded to, especially when there isn't an inventory cost to the product sold. Really, really disappointed.

Beware if you are a consignor - it will take MONTHS to get paid for your items after requesting a payout. Never had any experiences like this before, every other higher end consignment store I've sold with has offered cheques the following week. Consistently takes 3+ months to get any payment, even for small payouts. Newly listed items also often sell at steep discounts with the constant sitewide promotions.

This store is absolutely amazing! I placed an online order a few weeks ago, and everything is in spectacular condition (just as stated on their site). I have never purchased designer clothes in the past, but the revente has fair prices and I’m extremely satisfied. Their site was very user friendly and the product photos depicted the items accurately. I can’t wait to visit the store in person one day!! So so great.

Fabulous store, the owner makes you feel like a VIP and is extremely knowledgable. The selection of brands is all high end, but very diverse. I always find a few pieces to suit my very particular style. The prices are very fair for the quality of goods. This is the best consignment store i have been to in Canada and I always look forward to visiting while in Calgary.

Consignors beware you may NEVER get paid!
Consignors & Buyers beware of your personal information getting HACKED!

I've been consigning with The Revente (used to be called the Upside) for about 3-4 years now. Payout had always been on request and you pay a small fee for e-transfer or cheque processing. The turnaround had been ~1-2 months, slow but at least steady. I've never had to pay a processing fee with other consignment stores, but it's inconsequential and I was happy to support a small local business.

I let my credit build up for most of 2022 to about $1200 and requested a payout in Nov 2022. I reached out in Jan 2023 after not receiving any money - the response was such that my request was never received, but that I was put in the queue for payment and that it'd be processed after their website was up again (No explanation was given about why the site was down, but I learned later in Feb that it was hacked - THROUGH INSTAGRAM - when they instructed customers/consignors to re-register). I reached out again in March, was told that the hack is still affecting their processes. I was not happy and asked for all my items to be returned and demanded that I'd be paid the money owed by end of April. Items were returned promptly but no commitment was made by the owner/staff as to when I'd get paid, despite my repeated request for confirmation.

So it's now May 1st 2023, still no money and no communications from the business what-so-ever. Even if it was just a 'hey we're having cashflow issues please give us another X weeks' would have been great - but no, nothing at all. Essentially they've held onto my money for over a year now since some of the items were sold and they got paid by customers. If they are having trouble paying me $1200 I can't imagine how long it'd take for anyone consigning luxury brands like Chanel, Hermes, etc. to get paid. They might be owed many more $1000s.

Please do yourself a favour, either sell through another consignment store or sell things yourself. Consign with this store and you may never see the money. I consider myself fortunate that I did not consign any of my high-value items with them. $1200 makes it worthwhile to make a claim through the small claims court but it's time and effort that I should not have to put in had I dealt with a more honest business.

Also, if a hack is still affecting the business 5 months after it happened, it goes to tell you how much it has crippled them and how little care they've given to cyber security. As a consignor and someone that has shopped through the website, I was never formally informed of the hack and whether my personal information have been compromised. This includes credit card and banking information, address, phone number etc.

I have purchased 4 handbags, and other items, from here and there has never been a disappointment!! I appreciate the sparkly package and the care that my items have been shipped with. As someone who lives out of province, this is important to me. I will always return here when I feel the need for a “new” handbag - which is very soon!! 5 stars all the way!

This is the consignment store that I have shopped the most at in Calgary, most of the time I order online and pick up downtown which is a half hour drive for me each way ( that should tell you something ! ). Yesterday I went down to pick up some items I had purchased online during the amazing Black Friday sale and ended up staying for about an hour trying on clothes. The store is always immaculate and organized and the owner is one of the nicest people I have ever met. They offer you water while trying items on and will happily give you an opinion on an item if you happen to be alone. They are 5 stars in customer service in my books and that goes a LONG way, especially these days. You will always feel welcome and comfortable going in here which again goes a long way. One of the best places in Calgary for sure.
