Being from out of town, we decided to bring our knives with us to get sharpened. Found Northwest Knives and saw their reviews, which were excellent. Walking in the door, we were greeted with smiles. Very professional. We were visiting friends, so leaving the knives for a couple days worked out perfect for us. Cost of sharpening our 3 knives was very reasonable.
So glad we found them. Thank you. Thank you.

These folks over deliver every time. Dropped off 7 knives for sharpening and they had them done ahead of schedule. That being said, the quality of the work is worth the wait even if they are running on time. Wish I got their names - but these cats will even give you a quick, professional explanation of knife safety, care and upkeep. Their edges hold up for a long time, too. Outstanding customer service and will continue to happily recommend them going forward.

This is of the coolest and nicest knife stores I have ever visited! Jack Weaver, who was the sales associate who helped me, was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and made my visit outstanding! If you are looking for a quality, high-end knife in the Boise area and like outstanding customer service, this is definitely the place for you!

More than just knives for the kitchen, but we were there for kitchen knives so didn't browse around.

I left my 100 year old hatchet to be sharpened here and I couldn't be less pleased. I was told it would be $6, but it was $10 when I picked it up. I did a quick inspect, saw some discoloration on the bit, and asked if they'd applied heat to ruin the temper. I was told no, put it in the sheath and walked out. Upon closer inspection, there was enough heat applied to char the temper, but not blue it. The bit was also folded over as if a strop hadn't been used at all. The toe of the hatchet bit had a good amount of material ground off. With the fold and the over-grind of the toe, I wouldn't have trusted it to split wood and remain in working order for very long. I'm re-filing the bit and sharpening it myself again. The hatchet actually had a better edge on it before they worked on it. This isn't about the $10, it's about the quality of work. If this was my shop I wouldn't have been proud of it.

I've included a couple pictures of the toe from either side after I've filed it. It's clear there's a nice radius to the bit and then a shoddy flat angle the last half inch from their grind.

Again, this is a hundred year-old piece of metal and their only consolation was "tool steel can be tough." It's not ruined, it's just not in better condition than when I left it, which is the ultimate disappointment.

Edit: I've added a before photo of the radius of the grind. There wasn't a flat spot on the toe before Northwest Knives touched this.

My wife asked me "why would you pay someone to sharped a knife?!?" and then immediatly cut her finger with it.

That's why. $7 well spent!

Beyond the wide array of top quality products, it’s the sincerity and top not customer service this shop provides. I have purchased a ZT knife, a Luminox watch, Benchmade accessories, and have had sharpening on various knives completed. Next up, kitchen set of knives. Thank you guys for providing value to the Treasure Valley!
