We worked with Mel and Ali from Dupont Design and Remodeling to put in a very small powder room on our first floor. They did a great job designing the space with the ideas we had in mind and within our budget. It was really helpful to visit their showroom to pick out fixtures, tile, cabinetry, and finishes. Their construction crew was great to work with and kept the place clean throughout the project. We're really happy with our bathroom and would definitely recommend them for any future job.

We were very thorough in our search for a contractor to take on a major renovation of our 1910 Wardman-style row house. Of the five companies we interviewed, DuPont’s attention to detail, responsiveness, and experience set them apart. They made the overwhelming process feel entirely manageable—dare I say, even easy? Where we had a vision, they respected it. Where we didn’t, they stepped in with their expert opinions. This easy give-and-take made for a seamless design experience all around.

When it came to construction, we had been cautioned by friends and family to be on the lookout for unreliable contractors—common in similar remodels—but we never experienced that with DuPont. To the contrary, Ali and his team were consummate professionals, going above and beyond to ensure everything met our satisfaction. They kept us informed throughout the entire process, from permitting to the final punch list.

Our once-small and barely functional kitchen is now the heart of our home. The tile and quartz were expertly installed. Don’t just take my word for it: even a competitor remarked that it was some of the best work they had seen in a long time.

No longer do we worry about our original pine floors splintering and sagging. The beautiful re-engineered oak on the first floor now creates a warm, cozy space. Our custom mudroom has become a true extension of our living area.

Our unfinished basement has been transformed into a bright, inviting family room complete with built-ins. My spouse and I still can’t believe how much time we spend in what was once a dark, dreary space where nail studs poked through the floor. The full bath they added is not just functional but also stunningly beautiful. The laundry room, with its custom cabinetry and utility sink, is a lovely finishing touch.

Ali, Ozzy, and the team at DuPont Design did a masterful job revitalizing our home while respecting its original character. Looking back, choosing them was the easiest and best decision we made for our home. When you find a team that combines craftsmanship, vision, and genuine care for their clients, you know you’re in good hands.

We moved into a condo with a very small, very poorly-designed kitchen. The condo was also located in a DC coop building notorious for giving contractors a hard time. I submitted my kitchen reno proposal to seven reputable DC contractors, and only Dupont Design agreed to do our job.

As our photos show, we were determined to maximize the tiny galley space while also including a number of "wow" features. Designer Mely threw herself into the project and made ALL of it happen -- and even suggested some fun features of her own!

Ali, the project manager, and his GC, Azad, were determined that we would be pleased with the final result. And we are. Dupont Design uses quality materials, has wonderful professionals on staff (special shout-out to their electrician who found all kinds of scary electrical issues behind the walls from previous renos! Ack!) and were endlessly patient with us and our "difficult" building.

We have done many, many renos in our lifetimes; and this one had a few of the usual delays, mistakes (quickly fixed) and issues. But the end cost was the end cost -- there were no surprises! -- and that's unique in our history. We ended up with the high-end kitchen of our dreams and suggest that you look no further for your kitchen contractor. We HIGHLY recommend Dupont Design.

We did an extensive two bathroom two closet and moving a laundry room upstairs renovation with DuPont Design. The whole process was fantastic. We got quotes and design mock ups from 4 different places but Mel was the only designer who listened carefully to exactly what we wanted and delivered an executable design with all the elements we asked for. All materials were purchased before demo so there were no delays because of items that hadn’t arrived yet. James was our project manager and he was fantastic. He was very present and responsive. He anticipated issue areas and worked quickly to ensure the project moved smoothly. I felt like he was invested in giving us our dream renovation and not just another job. Norberto worked tirelessly with a smile and delivered quality work even when working with a 1920’s house that provided challenges to bring up to code. This was long construction project but every night they vacuumed swept and cleaned up after themselves. They were careful with our old dog who gets in everyone’s way and were great with working around our full household. I would use DuPont design again for any of our renovation needs.

He also provided valuable feedback as we encountered unforeseen structural challenges in our 100+ year-old home and responded to our requests and questions without delay. His team was highly skilled, efficient, and thorough. Ali's team was responsive to our requests during and after the main construction phase. He also went the extra mile to make sure we were totally satisfied with the project once it was completed.
