I was a repeat customer, but no more. Last Thursday I spent several hours in their showroom selecting and purchasing tiles for large bathrooms and closets. I purchased one, but after I was told the other was available, I was later told it was not. The story I was told was that they had it in stock, but it was sold to another customer who was supposed to pick-up the order in March of 2023, but never did. The boss gave a directive to cancel it months ago, but an employee never followed through. So upon me trying to purchase it, they decided to call the guy, who said he'd go by to pick it up on Monday. After spending hours there selecting tiles, this was very frustrating, but I didn't show it. Instead, I asked "If he doesn't show up by close of business Monday, can you deliver both tile orders to me on Tuesday?" The young lady assisting me assured me that yes, that was a guarantee. She even set alarms on her phone to reach me for the credit card transaction by phone with her colleague, because she would be off on Monday. Her manager Chris was also on board according to her, advising me that the warehouse closed at 4:30, and the showroom at 5:00pm, so there was sufficient time for the transaction upon confirmation that the tile was available, if the guy did not pick it up by close of business.
Sure enough, The colleague never called me, so I called at 4:40 and spoke to her. She confirmed that the guy never picked up the tile at the warehouse by 4:30, and that I could purchase it. However, she would call me right back because she needed to get the paperwork. When she called back, she then told me that Chris the manager said that the paperwork would not be ready until tomorrow, meaning that I could not get both of my tile orders delivered on Tuesday. I demanded to speak with Chris with urgency, because of several logistical challenges that this presented for me, and this was really poor customer service. She said she would call me back but never did.
Earlier that afternoon, I had visited the store and taken two tiles from other stores to match those I was buying at DAX. I had finalized the selection of all of them. To say the process was tedious and time consuming is an understatement. I was coordinating all deliveries for Tuesday, or I was going to take the single order myself while I was there Monday. Later at 5:37 I received a message from the young lady who first assisted me on Thursday, telling me that the guy ended up picking up the order, so it was not available. Huh? What a clown show. Clearly somebody was not being truthful, and I ended up holding the bag. I will survive, but if this is the kind of micky mouse operation these people are running there, I highly recommend folks visit one of the other hundred tile places nearby, I cancelled my purchase with the credit card company... not worth dealing with these people. I feel bad for the ownership, its not their fault. I know how hard it is to find good help these days, but it is their responsibility to hold their people accountable. This was crap!
