Know what you want before you go- they will present to you the most expensive options and act shocked that you don't want to spend all of your money there. As a first time renovator, I felt duped. And when you pay through the nose for cabinets, the quality will not correspond to the price: splits, rough edges, uneven finishes that require you to ask for replacement doors and drawer fronts. But don't worry, when you can't match the crown that comes with the top cabinets to anything that exists to create a full room ceiling cornice, you have beautiful, very expensive firewood because that crown can't be returned as it was part of "the cabinet package." I would not refer friends here.

I'm a remodeler working a condo remodel in Kennebunk. Ordered 13 cabinets (10 kitchen and 3 vanities), keeping the same layout with minor changes. Experience was sub-par with the cabinet designer Jim Milligan, but we continued to use Atlantic based on my experience with Wendy Adams. Jim was almost impossible to get in touch with, never returning a phone call, text or email after 12pm. I have a feeling Atlantic design and their team (excluding Wendy) became spiteful when we decided to go elsewhere for the countertop (which was quoted close to the same price as the kitchen cabinets), because when our delivery arrived it was missing our center wall-mount microwave cabinet. To put it in perspective, I was only alerted that the cabinets arrived at their warehouse when I reached out to ask (and was told they arrived the day prior, ugh!). Between when they arrived at Eldredge Lumber/Atlantic Design's warehouse and when the delivery came to my jobsite, there were almost three weeks where no one cared enough to check my order. I informed Jim the cabinet designer, who didn't even apologize, told me he'd look around the warehouse and never called me back. I ended up getting in touch with the design center manager Carmen, who's "best solution" was essentially re-ordering the cabinet on a "rush order" that has a similar lead time to the entire cabinet order, 3-4 weeks, with no other solution or remedy I can offer my client. Now my schedule is out the window and my client will end up spending money on accommodations as she was hoping to be move in by then, and we cannot get our occupancy permit without completing the kitchen. This is one of the most unfortunate experiences I've dealt with in a while, and it's incredibly disappointing. I'm a York High School graduate and I've watched Eldredge and Atlantic grow over the years. My father was on the York Appeals board when Scott Eldredge came before the town to expand the design center, and helped convince the town it was an acceptable and good idea. What a shame that they've grown too big for their own good.

TL;DR: If Atlantic Design has all your money, they no longer care about you or your project. If you're in Southern Maine, spend your money on a smaller shop/design center that gives a damn.

Flooring and backsplash were a nightmare. Staff member was rude, unable to anticipate scheduled timing of deliveries and poor communication. Grossly over ordered flooring and fought to get returned with manager. Tile wasn’t ordered and delayed our project a month. Then 2 different sized tiles came in and project could not be completed by are already scheduled tile installer. Delayed another 2 weeks. Supplies ordered by staff and delivered and weren’t used by tiler were unable to be returned per staff. Went to manager and she stated we could return stock items. Still unable to return stock items as wrong supplies were listed on receipt. Complete incompetence.

Stopped in today with my friend who is in the process of building a large home and will need a complete kitchen and outfit several baths as well. Upon entering the store we noticed a seminar going on and the first female employee to greet us told us to be quiet! Unfortunately that lost you a huge sale. Kitchen design seemed too interested in the seminar they were not attending then taking care of cash customers. While the employees of the hardware store itself are most willing to help you, I cannot say the same for the design showroom. Will not be back.
